Mantrailing

Man Trailing is a really fun sport that is great for any age, breed, or size of dog to try!

We teach the dog to target a specific scent article that someone dropped, and then use that scent to go search for them. Every dog knows how to use their nose already, and this is a low stress and low impact way of fulfilling their need to hunt, search and sniff!

You and your pup can participate in the sport for fun or you can win really cool patches to show off!

If you are new here, you must take an introduction course first. If you've already taken the course, you can choose which trail you'd like to join!

Getting Started:

If you are interested in starting you and your pup in the sport, first you need to join an introduction class! This will teach you important foundations and safety rules to help you be successful. Once you've completed an introduction class you can man trail with any dog without ever needing to take the class again.

This course will take place at our facility and typically lasts 3 hours.Your pup will be crated in our facility or in your car until time to practice. The first half will be information about the sport, safety information, line handling, and "take scent" practice. The second half will be a short trail practice with each group. We recommend bringing your dog, a harness, their highest value rewards and/or toy, and an item that can be used to take a scent from (example: shirt from your closet, scarf from your car, hair scrunchie, etc--Please no 3 day old dirty socks 😅), and a long line. Many of these can be borrowed from us if you do not have one yet.

If you've already taken the course:

Now that you have completed an Introduction Class, you are ready to start trailing! You may be asked (or encouraged) to trail lay for another team.
